Otto Nilson Fanini, MSEE, MBA, BSEE, Principal Engineer of Electrical Oil Field Services at Baker Hughes, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in engineering.
Mr. Fanini has been in the engineering field for 25 years, and is now the global principal engineer of drilling and evaluation with Baker Hughes Incorporated. He is very proud of his team receiving the 2012 Baker Hughes corporate Award for High Temperature/High Pressure Equipment, and feels he stands out because of his ability to work with all kinds of people, manage many projects simultaneously, and his technical creativity and innovation, which contributes to getting things done in a timely way and with professionalism. He is honest about what he does not know, and gives his team credit for their contributions. In the future, Mr. Fanini hopes to attain a more international leadership role with Baker Hughes, and wants to be remembered for getting people to work together in harmony, and for accomplishing projects.
Mr. Fanini was always interested in his industry, and began his career studying semi-conductors and designing chips. With hard work and focus, he attended the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro to complete a BSEE in electronics, followed by an MSEE in solid state, VLSI micro electronics, and laser applications from Texas A&M University. Later, Mr. Fanini attended Houston Baptist University to receive an MBA in finance. Additionally, he has completed a competent communicator program with Toastmasters International, and in 2017 was recognized with a Houston Technology Center Leadership Award.
At Baker Hughes, Mr. Fanini specializes in the creation of value from oil and gas reservoirs, deploying and testing electrical equipment appropriate for the job. There are many considerations, from cost to supply chain, quality to engineering, and working with oil and gas in offshore engineering. Mr. Fanini is a member of the IEEE, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the International Council on Systems Engineering, the Houston Football Association, the Brazil Press Association and a former member of the USA Triathlon. He enjoys music, traveling, soccer, and songwriting.
