Julie Ezold, Californium-252 Program Manager at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nuclear engineering.
Ms. Ezold has been the program manager of the Californium-252 project with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory since 1992, consistently bringing successful results with transuranic materials research and applications. Since 2005, she has been a member of the senior research and development staff. Furthermore, Ms. Ezold mentors students with radioisotope research projects. With an early interest in radio and nuclear chemistry, her sixth grade teacher encouraged her to pursue the field in her later studies. She later enrolled at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and earned a Bachelor of Science in nuclear engineering in 1990. She continued at North Carolina State University to receive a master’s degree in nuclear engineering in 1992
Throughout her career, Ms. Ezold has been recognized for her outstanding work on numerous occasions. In 2009, she received a Presidential Citation from the American Nuclear Society and the Patricia Bryant Leadership Award for Women in Nuclear from the Nuclear Energy Institute. She was an honoree at the UT-Battelle Awards Night for Exceptional Community Outreach in 2007. In 2002, she received the Defense Programs Award of Excellence.
Ms. Ezold maintains affiliation and participates on committees with the American Chemical Society, Women in Nuclear, and the Nuclear Energy Institute. With great success in her own education, she has also taken on an educational outreach position with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory to help inspire others. Looking toward the future, she endeavors to work in isotope production and meet more industry professionals.
