Mr. Gibbons has contributed to the success of the computer engineering field through his hands-on work across all disciplines of the industry since 1996. He began his career as a ThinkPad product specialist and server gas analyst with IBM Personal Systems Group in Triangle Park, NC. After two years, he took on an opportunity to serve in the military as a government contractor for the U.S. Army. This position led his to become a network specialist where he provided institutional support to eArmyU at Troy State University. Mr. Gibbons felt at home at the university, so he has remained in a variety of roles since 2002. Some of the prominent positions he has held include education technology coordinator, engineer, systems integration manager, and software development manager. Today, he is an educational technology senior system analyst and SQL programmer.
Mr. Gibbons entered his field because of his love of technology and his strong interest in the intricacies of how computers work. To prepare for a career, he pursued and completed his education. In 2000, he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a Bachelor of Science in software engineering from Auburn University. He later returned to his studies and received a Master of Science in applied computer science from Columbus State University in 2007. A respected leader in his field, Mr. Gibbons is a member of the IEEE, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Columbus State University Alumni, the mathematics Association of America, the Association of Computing Machinery, the Auburn Alumni Association, and Phi Kappa Phi.
A certified CompTIA Network professional, Mr. Gibbons is constantly on the lookout for new opportunities and projects in his field. As he looks ahead to the future, he intends to continue in his work with Troy State University and his involvement in his professional community. He hopes for continued success in his career and intends to work toward that goal while seeking out new ones.
In recognition of his professional excellence, Mr. Gibbons earned an Outstanding Achievement Award from IBM and a Staff Spirit Award from Troy State University. Additionally, he was listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
