An innovative figure in the field of engineering, Dr. Hallquist has accrued more than 40 years of professional excellence in his areas of expertise. The founder and president of LSTC since 1987, he was the developer of the program DYNA3D during his employment at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in the weapons laboratory from 1974 to 1987. Bringing his creation to LSTC to commercialize the simulation program, Dr. Hallquist has grown his corporation to three buildings and a host of employees, including engineers, mathematicians, and computer scientists. Focused on technical excellence and support, LSTC engages in the development of LS-DYNA, LS-PrePost, LS-OPT, LS-TaSC, and Dummy & Barrier models for use in the automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, and bioengineering industries.

In preparation for his illustrious career, Dr. Hallquist sought a formal education, first obtaining a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering, magna cum laude, from Western Michigan University in 1970. He followed this achievement with a Master of Science in engineering mechanics in 1972 and a Doctor of Philosophy in mechanical engineering and engineering mechanics in 1974 from Michigan Technological University.

A holder of several patents in the field, Dr. Hallquist is a member of the National Academy of Engineering. In recognition of his exceptional accomplishments and contributions to the engineering industry, he was the recipient of the Applied Mechanics Division Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2003. In 1986, the Department of Energy gave him the Award for Significant Contributions to Nuclear Weapons Progression. In addition, Marquis Who’s Who has named him a Lifetime Achiever in 2017 and he has been inducted into several editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the West, and Who’s Who in the World.
