Commencing his career with the company in 2011, he rose through the ranks first as a scientist, then as a senior scientist and principal scientist, becoming lead principal scientist in 2017. ABB, Inc., is renowned as a global leader for manufacturing electrical power equipment with its headquarters based in Switzerland. Prior to joining ABB, Inc., Dr. Du was a research assistant at North Carolina State University from 2007 to 2011 and a research scientist for General Electric in Shanghai, China, from 2005 to 2007.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Du pursued a formal education, receiving a Bachelor of Science in applied electronics in 2002 and a Master of Science in power electronics in 2005 from Zhejiang University. He concluded his education at North Carolina State University, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in electrical and electronics engineering in 2011.
An eight-time patentee in the field with 14 more patents pending, Dr. Du is a celebrated member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Married with one child, he enjoys playing table tennis and running in his spare time. He also spends his time volunteering and coaching at his local high school.
