Gary Kelman, AFO Program Manager at the Maryland Department of the Environment, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Environmental Engineering.
Since 1977, Gary Kelman has dedicated himself to the protection of the environment in the state of Maryland. He began his career as an environmental engineer at JTC Environmental Consultant in 1977, and spent two years there. After spending one year with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, he found himself at the Maryland Department of the Environment, where he is still working today. He currently serves as the AFO program manager, and has been doing so since 2009. Other positions held at the Department of the Environment include director of the Office of Special Programs, public health engineer, and head of the pre-treatment section.
In 1974, Mr. Kelman graduated from Philadelphia University with a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences. He continued his education at the University of Maryland, where he received a Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 1977. Mr. Kelman has always maintained a presence in professional organizations, as he feels that is very important to do so. He is a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and has twice served as president of the National Association of Environmental Professionals. For the contributions he has made throughout his career, Mr. Kelman has received several awards and honors, including a certificate of appreciation from the Governor of Maryland in 1993, and recognition as the Maryland Department of the Environment Employee of Year in 2010.
