Tarak Bhar, Engineering Educator at Texas A&M University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in chip and semi-conduct device design and electrical engineering.
Dr. Bhar knew from an early age that he wanted to be an engineer as the field had always been of interest. Once in college, he was able to pursue this field, first earning a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Technology at the University of Calcutta in 1964 and then a Master of Science at Kolkata University in 1965. After relocating to the United States, he received a Master of Science from Baylor University in 1969 and then a PhD from Texas A&M University in 1973. With this background, he has consulted for Bell Laboratories, the Naval Research Laboratory and the National Bureau of Standards among other institutions. He taught as a professor at the University of the District of Columbia from 1979 to 2016.
Besides being an engineering educator, Dr. Bhar has also done a lot of consulting with the Army Airport Department of Defense. A lot of the time, a problem comes up with the ships. All the consultants get together to come up with the best advice to give to the Naval Department, especially electrostatic discharge in chips. Dr. Bhar has also helped establish a scholarship for Kolkata High School and is the co-author of “Electrostatic Discharge Control.” Throughout his career, he has maintained affiliation with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the ASEEE.
