Barry Stuart Perlman, Ph.D., Retired Researcher, Director and Electrical Engineer at the Communications Electronics, Research, Development and Engineering Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in electrical engineering.
Amassing more than 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Perlman is a prominent electrical engineer who is considered a pioneer in the field of high-frequency devices and circuits including modeling, simulation, and microwave CAD. Most recently serving as the associate director of technology at the Communications Electronics, Research, Development and Engineering Center from 2002 to 2012, he previously held the roles of associate director of technology and principal scientist at the Intel and Info Directorate from 1999 to 2002 and chief of applied communications with the Communications-Electronics Command from 1998 to 1999. Prior to these illustrious roles, he served as a R&D Engineering Center staff member at the Communications-Electronics Command from 1997 to 1998, chief of the RF and electronics division of the Sensor and Electron Devices Directorate at the Army Research Laboratory from 1996 to 1997, and director of the electronics division of the Physical Sciences Directorate at the Army Research Laboratory from 1995 to 1996, among other prestigious positions. He commenced his career as a member of the technical staff of the Communications Laboratory at RCA Corporation in 1961.
Dr. Perlman holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the City College of New York, a Master of Science in electrical engineering from the New York University Tandon School of Engineering, and a Doctor of Philosophy in electrophysics, also from the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. A contributor of articles to professional journals, he has been on the editorial board of the Wiley Journal since 1992.
A fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Dr. Perlman received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the organization in 2012. As a testament to his professional success, he has been listed in several editions of Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in Finance and Business.
