Myron Titos Petrakis, President at B/P Plastic Equipment Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in plastics engineering.
Drawing upon 50 years of professional excellence, Mr. Petrakis retired in 1991, having most recently served as the president of B/P Plastic Equipment Company for 22 years. Prior to this role, he was a sales engineer with Application Engineering Corporation, now known as the ACS Group, from 1967 to 1969, and the manager of plastic molding with Federal Tool Corporation from 1953 to 1967. Commencing his career as a tool and dye maker with the Republic Flow Meters Company in 1941, he also briefly worked as a project engineer for General American Plastics for two years.
Mr. Petrakis holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. A United States Navy veteran, he has served the village of Norridge, IL, in multiple capacities throughout his career, including as a historian, civil defense director, and commission secretary for the Board of Fire and Police Commission. Likewise, he was the former publicist for the Norridge High School Problems Committee. Renowned for his design of accessories for plastic injection modeling, he has continually established himself as a revered figure in his industry and community.
The former director of the Chicago chapter of the Society of Plastic Engineers, Mr. Petrakis has accrued several accolades over the years. Most recently, he was the recipient of the Hoffman Estates, IL, Community Hero Award in 2017, having previously received the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2016. In addition, he was honored with the Sheriff’s Senior Medal of Honor by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office in 2003. Notably, he has been highlighted in the 10th edition of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, as well as multiple editions of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.
