Clarence Pai-an Tsung, Electrical Engineer at Clarence Tsung & Associates, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in electrical engineering.
Utilizing more than six decades of industry experience, Mr. Tsung is a respected electrical engineer who has been serving as president of his own firm, Clarence Tsung & Associates, in Oradell, NJ, since 1979. Prior to this illustrious role, he worked in New York City for a plethora of engineering firms, including Syska & Hennessy, Inc., where he acted as director of research from 1960 to 1979, and Guy B. Panero, where he acted as an electrical engineer from 1959 to 1960. He commenced his career as an electrical engineer for Singmaster & Breyer from 1958 to 1959.
To prepare for his career, Mr. Tsung pursued formal education at National Taiwan University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1953. Immigrating to the United States soon thereafter, he received a Master of Science in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, now known as the New York University Tandon School of Engineering, in 1956. While pursuing his graduate degree, he served the university as a research fellow for one year and a teaching fellow for three years.
Alongside his primary career endeavors, Mr. Tsung has been a member of the New York City Code Revision and Interpretation Committee since 1965, the Electrical Industry Evaluation Panel since 1972, and the National Electrical Code Committee since 1974. In the past, he served as a longtime consultant in the engineering graduate program of New York University from 1970 to 2015, having also served as a member of the ad hoc committee of energy policy for the State of New York from 1972 to 1974. Civically, he was co-chairman of the Cardinal’s Committee Laity with the Archdiocese of New York, as well as an adviser for the American Council for Emigres in the Professions.
As such, in an effort to remain abreast of recent developments within his areas of interest, Mr. Tsung has maintained involvement with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, where he is a senior member and was the former contributing editor to “Recommended Practice of Electric Systems for Commercial Buildings” in 1974. Likewise, he is associated with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Chinese Institute of Engineers and the Illuminating Engineers Society, who gave him an Achievement Award in 1970.
In recognition of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Tsung has been highlighted in the 63rd edition of Who’s Who in America, as well as multiple editions of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering and Who’s Who in the East. Married to Helena Shin-Yi Wang since 1959, he is the proud father of two sons.
