Aspy Palia, Finance Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in experiential learning.
Dr. Palia attributes his success to the foundation he received from his parents. Strict, but encouraging, they instilled in him a passion for education and a drive to continue learning and bettering himself. What has ensued is a remarkable career as an engineer and educator, with his current position as a professor at the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii augmenting four decades of experience. In his career, he has also been a senior fellow at the National University of Singapore, a senator for the University of Hawaii Manoa Faculty Congress, an instructor at Kent State University and an export sales engineer for Larsen & Toubro Ltd. Furthermore, he has consulted, and been a visiting scholar at businesses and universities all over the world, including Singapore Management University, Vietnam National University, Mount Carmel Institute of Management, the Administrative Staff College in India among many others.
Dr. Palia first earned a BSME from the University of Bangalore in 1966 before relocating to the United States. Upon this change, he received an MBA from the University of Hawaii in 1976 and a DBA from Kent State University in 1985. Dr. Palia recalls the influence his dissertation advisor, Hal Williams, had for him at Kent State. Not only is he dedicated to providing students at all levels with online marketing decision support systems and graphics packages, but Dr. Palia has contributed to industry discussions through various published works, include being an associate editor for e-Services Quartely and contributing to the Industrial Marketing Management, the International Business Journal, the Asia-Pacific Journal of Management, the International Marketing Review, the European Journal of Marketing and the Foreign Trade Review among many other publications. In recognition of his work, Dr. Palia has received such accolades as being a university fellow of Kent State University and receiving several research grants.
