Edward J. Starostovic, Retired Engineer and President at PFS Corporation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in engineering.
Drawing upon more than four decades of professional experience, Mr. Starostovic is an esteemed engineer who most recently served as the longtime president of PFS Corporation from 1978 until his retirement in 2000. Previously serving the corporation as executive vice president from 1972 to 1978, he also acted as a part-time lecturer in factory-built housing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and sat on the board of directors of the Wood Heating Alliance from 1982 to 1988. Earlier in his career, he was an engineer and manager of Wausau Homes, Inc., for 12 years and the owner of Structural Plywood Company for two years beginning in 1958.
Influenced by his father, who was a sheet metal technician in the building industry, Mr. Starostovic obtained a Bachelor of Arts in the architectural program at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1958. A registered professional engineer in the State of Wisconsin, he formerly served as chairman of the Wausau Area Regional Plan Commission and member of the President’s National Manufactured Housing Advisory Council. Since 1977, he has been a delegate to the U.S.-USSR Technology Exchange Agreement in Washington, DC, having also been on the Joint Council of Industrialized/Modular Buildings since 1987 and on the editorial review board of “Automated Builder” since 1973.
A contributor of myriad articles to professional journals, Mr. Starostovic has maintained affiliation with numerous organizations in an effort to remain abreast of developments within his areas of interest. A member of ASTM International, he sat on the board of directors of the National Association of Home Builders and on multiple committees of the National Institute of Building Sciences. In addition, he has remained involved with the International Association of Electrical Inspectors, the Forest Products Society, the American Society for Quality and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
In light of all of his accomplishments, Mr. Starostovic has garnered several accolades. The recipient of the S.A. Walters Chairman’s Award from the Buildings Systems Council of the National Association of Home Builders in 1989, he previously won the E. Kurtz Award from the National Association of Building Manufacturers in 1972. Notably, he was selected for inclusion in the 10th edition of Who’s Who in the World, the 50th edition of Who’s Who in America, and the 20th and 21st editions of Who’s Who in the Midwest.
Married to Marilyn Ann Mucek since 1956, Mr. Starostovic is the proud father of three daughters: Lynn Ann, Karen and Susanne. He enjoys studying wild birds and plants in his spare time.
