Dr. Anil Mital, former professional engineer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academia.
A driven professional who constantly sought out the next opportunity, Dr. Mital celebrates a career that spanned four decades. His journey has been marked by a number of noteworthy roles in higher education with the University of Cincinnati. He first joined the faculty as a coordinator of human factors engineering in 1981 after amassing six years of experience in academia with the University of Wisconsin. In 1984, he achieved the role of associate professor, where he was able to teach on a variety of disciplines and topics in the field. Dr. Mital progressed into a full-time professor role for industrial engineering and physical medicine and rehabilitation in 1993, where he excelled until his retirement in 2015. When asked what gratified him most about his professional career, Dr. Mital notes that seeing his students succeed was an ongoing joy and continues to be today.
In recognition of his professional excellence, Dr. Mital has been the recipient of prominent industry accolades. He earned a Jack A. Jack A. Kraft Innovation Award from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, a Most Cited Author Award from Elsevier Science, a David F. Baker Distinguished Research Award from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, and a Paul M. Fitts Award from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. He also achieved research grants from the National Institute Disability and Rehabilitation, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
Dr. Mital prepared for his career by achieving a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Allahabad University in India in 1974, a Master of Science from Kansas State University in 1976, and a PhD from Texas Technical University in 1980. He has remained at the top of his field throughout his career through his professional endeavors with industry organizations such as the Society of Automotive Engineers, the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, the Industrial Ergonomics Technical Group, the Human Factors Society of America, the American Industrial Hygiene Association, and the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers. As he looks to the future, Dr. Mital intends to enjoy his well-deserved retirement.
