Delbert Kimbler, Professor Emeritus of Clemson University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academics.
With more than 25 years of professional experience, Dr. Kimbler has been recognized as professor emeritus of Clemson University since 2008. Prior to his retirement, he was a professor from 1990 to 2008, having been an associate professor from 1984 to 1990 and assistant professor from 1980 to 1984. In addition to his primary roles, he was chair of industrial engineering from 1995 to 2000 and department head from 1989 to 1990.
Dr. Kimbler began his career as a student at the University of South Florida, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science, with distinction, in engineering in 1976. He continued his studies with the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, earning a PhD in industrial engineering and operations research. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of South Carolina. Dr. Kimbler had a very inspiring teacher in high school, James R. Chambers, who inspiring in both showing him things in technical areas as well as instruction in life. Originally it was the technical aspect that led him to the field of engineering.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kimbler has been recognized for his contributions, including having been named Engineering Educator of the Year by the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers, Piedmont Chapter. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World. Dr. Kimbler feels that reconnecting with students 25 years after teaching them and learning that the things he taught them turned out to be very important in their lives is one of his greatest achievements. An educator can’t do better than that.
