Pierre Latour, Vice President at Setpoint, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in engineering.
With more than 35 years of professional experience, Dr. Latour was the vice president of Setpoint from 1977 to 1995, also serving as co-founder and member of the board of directors from 1977 to 1990. Prior to obtaining these roles, he was a manager of process control engineering at Biles and Associates from 1971 to 1977, and with Davis Computer Systems from 1970 to 1971. Earlier in his career, he was a staff engineer with Shell Oil Company from 1969 to 1970, where he was previously a senior engineer in 1966. He was inspired to go into engineering as his father, Theodore Rudolph, was a chemical engineer.
Dr. Latour began his career as a cooperative engineering student at DuPont from 1958 to 1961. He then joined Virginia Polytechnic Institute, completing a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering in 1962. He continued his studies with Purdue University, obtaining a Master of Science in chemical engineering in 1964 and earning a PhD of chemical engineering in 1966. A registered professional engineer in the states of Texas and California, he was a captain in the ordnance corps with the US Army and NASA Manned Spacecraft Center from 1967 to 1969. He has received such accolades as selection for the National Science Foundation Fellowship from 1962 to 1966 and being chosen as the Engineer of the Year in 1999.
