Evandro Gimenes, civil geotechnical engineer at GGT Consulting Ltd., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in civil engineering.
With nearly 35 years of professional experience, Dr. Gimenes has been a principal consultant and director with GGT Consulting Ltd. since 2016. Prior to obtaining his current role, he was a geotechnical engineer and manager at Golder Associates Brasil Ltd. from 2000 to 2006, a senior geotechnical engineer with SNC-Lavalin Inc., from 2011 to 2016, with MWH Canada from 2008 to 2010, and with Wood plc Ltd. from 2006 to 2008. Earlier in his career, he was a senior geotechnical engineer with Themag Engenharia from 1987 to 1991 and a junior geotechnical engineer with Victor de Mello and Associates from 1985 to 1987.
Dr. Gimenes began his career as a student at the University of Brasilia, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering in 1981. He then joined Fundação Getulio Vargas, completing a Master of Business Administration in 1984. He continued his education with Polytechnic School University of São Paulo, receiving a Master of Science in geotechnical engineering in 1988. Dr. Gimenes earned a PhD in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2000.
Dr. Gimenes has been certified by the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysics of British Columbia, and the Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Arquitetura. An active leader in his community, he is a member of the Association of Brasileira de Mecanica dos Solos, the International Society of Rock Mechanics, American Society of Civil Engineers, Canadian Dam Association and the Canadian Geotechnical Society. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who’s Who in the World. In recognition of his work, he is the recipient of the Ralph B. Peck Award for his GeoTechnological Research Award from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
