Robert W. Kotlowitz, PhD, experienced mechanical engineer and reliability testing specialist for electronic hardware, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mechanical engineering and reliability assurance practices.
For more than three decades, Dr. Kotlowitz demonstrated broad skills in his field, both in inter-disciplinary technical roles and as a recognized industry expert. He retired in September 2018 after a combined 36-year career with Nokia of America Corporation, Alcatel-Lucent, Lucent Technologies, and AT&T Bell Laboratories as a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff. Dr. Kotlowitz currently manages InformationGenesis, LLC in Montclair, New Jersey. InformationGenesis provides global technical consulting services in reliability assurance and reliability testing for advanced electronic hardware and telecommunication infrastructure equipment. He also served for 17 years as a part-time instructor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at New Jersey Institute of Technology, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and the City College of New York. Dr. Kotlowitz published multiple technical papers on accelerated stress testing, electronics packaging, and surface mount solder attachment reliability at major industry conferences in the United States and Europe. He served as a course leader for professional development training in accelerated stress testing and solder attachment reliability assurance at major companies and learning centers in the United States, Canada, Europe, Israel, Southeast Asia, and China. In recognition of his sustained professional excellence, Dr. Kotlowitz received a Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award in March 2019.
Before establishing himself professionally, Dr. Kotlowitz pursued and completed his university education. A graduate of the City University of New York, he earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering in 1973, a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering in 1975, and a PhD in Engineering and Applied Mechanics in 1981. He is a long-time member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, International Microelectronics Assembly and Packaging Society, Surface Mount Technology Association, and Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society. As Dr. Kotlowitz looks toward 2019 and beyond, he plans to share his knowledge and expertise with the global technical community through InformationGenesis and publications, and explore new projects in diverse areas of interest.
