James Quinn, Engineering Consultant and Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in homeland security engineering.
With a background in theoretical mathematics, Mr. Quinn discovered during his research that it was difficult to get other people to work on his projects. In this respect, he turned to working on computers to handle his problems and discovered its usefulness. While maintaining a mathematician background, Mr. Quinn transitioned into cyber and homeland security within the engineering sphere.
With an early interest in mathematics, Mr. Quinn earned a Bachelor of Science in theoretical mathematics from St. Mary’s University in 1967. Early in his career, he worked as a consultant at Peat Marwick Mitchell and at Kirkman Associates. From there, he provided his skills and expertise as a research coordinator at the State University of New York at Albany. He worked in this respect for most of the 1970s. From 1978 until 1998, he commenced his career as a consultant with the Digital Equipment Corporation. He followed this with a consulting position at Alcatel CID in Canada before returning to the United States to work as a federal employee with the US Department of Homeland Security.
Out of all of his endeavors, Mr. Quinn has maintained that the best part of his work is having fun while doing so. He maintains professional affiliation with the IEEE and the ACM. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife, Theresa Ann, his sons Ian and Colin, and his four grandchildren.
