Bernice M. Narvaez, Principal Systems Engineer at the Raytheon Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in engineering.
With a curiosity of how electronics worked from an early age, Ms. Narvaez has always been fascinated by technology. Supported by encouraging friends and family, she attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering in 1978. From there, she began serving Shell Oil as an engineer between 1978 and 1981 and a computer programmer at the University of Texas at Houston from 1985 to 1989. Acting in the same capacity for Ciber Consultants/MCI from 1989 to 1990, she continued with MCI Communications Corporation as a systems analysis for the following four years. During this time, she obtained a Master of Science in management information systems from George Washington University. Soon thereafter, she held a number of roles with Comsys Technical Services, IBM Global Services, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Praxis Engineering Technologies, ascending the ranks of success with each consecutive position. In 2015, she began working for the Raytheon Company as a principal systems engineer, a position she still holds today. She was also the past IT program manager for Raytheon from 2015 to 2017.
Alongside her primary appointments, Ms. Narvaez has been the president of Golden Sunset Services, as well as the president and co-founder of the online retail store GS4LESS. Civically involved as well, she sat on the International Council on Systems Engineering for three years and was a volunteer for local public schools. She also maintained affiliation with the Watchtower Society, the MIT and George Washington Alumni Funds, Habitat for Humanity, and Missing Children’s funds.
Ms. Narvaez holds myriad certifications in her field, including as an information systems security professional and credentials in capability maturity model integration, assisted living, CPR, first aid, emergency/disaster, and continuing education in cryptology, project management, cloud technology, cloud security and web development. Among the notable highlights of her career, she cites heading facilities that looked after families’ loved ones were crowning achievements. She desired to ensure that the facilities were suitable for each families’ needs in order to provide optimal care for every patient.
Married to her husband Raymond Narvaez since 1999, Ms. Narvaez has one daughter and one grandson. She enjoys playing tennis and piano, collecting art and traveling in her spare time. Looking toward the future, she intends to keep running her business from home and taking care of her family.
