Frederic Leder, PhD, Private Investor, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in chemical engineering.
Supported by more than 50 years of practiced experience in chemical engineering, Dr. Leder is a prominent engineer whose expertise in his field of interest is unparalleled. Since 1995, he has served as a private investor with an emphasis on the energy sector. Prior to this role, he served as the associate director of the Office of Cooperative Research at Yale University and managing director of Technology Management Associates in 1995, as well as a managing partner of the Specialty Capital group from 1988 to 1995. Previously, Dr. Leder served such prominent organizations as Dowell Schlumberger, Cities Service Research and Development Corporation, and Occidental Research Corporation, where he was the director of new ventures, exploratory/minerals research and energy research. He commenced his career as a planning associate and group leader at Exxon Research and Engineering Company in 1965.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Leder pursued formal education at Queens College and Columbia University, earning two Bachelor of Science degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering in 1961. He then attended Yale University, where he received a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in 1963 and 1965, respectively. He holds several U.S. patents in the field, including for the invention of acid gas separations technology. In addition, he has contributed myriad articles to esteemed journals and authored “We Don’t Need Any Foreign Oil.”
To remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Leder sat on the research committee on energy of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, from whom he received the Technology Achievement Award in 1982. He also maintained membership with Sigma Xi and the Society of Petroleum Engineers. As a testament to his success, Dr. Leder was selected for inclusion in the second edition of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering in 1993.
