With 50 years of professional experience, Ms. Costin has been principal of Costin Engineering, Inc., since 2012, as well as a project manager with the city of Jacksonville, FL since 1990, also serving as an engineer manager from 2004 to 2012. Prior to obtaining these roles, she was a project engineer with Smith and Gilespie Engineers from 1988 to 1990, a design engineer with Aikenhead Engineering from 1983 to 1988, and an engineer III with the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation from 1981 to 1983. Earlier in her career, she was a project engineer with Machine Construction from 1975 to 1980 and a design engineer with the Institute of Mining from 1969 to 1975.
Ms. Costin began her career as a student with the Faculty of Hydrotechnology Construction in Bucharest, Romania, where she obtained a Master of Science in civil engineering in 1969. She then relocated to the United States, completing postgraduate coursework in 1985. She is a registered professional engineer in the state of Florida and a published author. In addition to engineering, Ms. Costin is an accomplished writer and has received a number of awards and accolades for her work. She was named poet laureate by The International Library of Poetry in 2002, a Presidential Award for Literary Excellence from the National Authors Registry and several editor’s choice awards from Poetry.com.
