Luis Manuel Antunes Luis, Structural Engineer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in structural, oil and gas engineering.
Mr. Luis became involved in his profession because his father suggested that a career as an engineer, specifically a naval architect, would be a rewarding and challenging venture. Mr. Luis graduated as a naval architect and worked in this capacity until 1992, when on-job training and opportunity turned him towards structural engineering, resulting in his immersion in the oil and gas sector by 1995. Since then, he has been a structural engineer and instructor in the oil and gas sector, in the United States, Africa, and the Middle East. Mr. Luis is currently the lead structural engineer and advisor for Point Engineering Ltd., a role with the company he has served previously. Furthermore, Mr. Luis has been a senior engineering instructor and chief engineer for Haward Technology, a convoy commander for CJ3, a structural engineer of Atlas Engineering Ltd. and Hereema USA.
After graduating from the State University of New York Maritime College with a Bachelor of Engineering in 1983, Mr. Luis started working as an applications engineers for Peck & Hale, Inc. Since then, his career has greatly varied; he has worked on Navy ship alterations and performed various offshore platform designs and modification. Mr. Luis credits the scholarship from The Henri Kummerman Foundation he received from 1979 to 1983 as important financial support that allowed him move forth in his career. Mr. Luis is also proud of his service to the US Navy and as an active reservist for the US Navy Active Reserve Component. He received various medals and endorsements from the US Navy. In his career, he maintained professional affiliation with the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Institute for Continuing Education and Training and the SUNY Maritime Alumni Association.
