Howard Harclerode, President of KBD Engineering Company, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in chemical engineering.
Demonstrating nearly five decades of industry experience, Mr. Harclerode’s beginnings in the engineering profession stem from an early love of mathematics and science. With burgeoning skills in these subjects, three of his high school science teachers were instrumental in helping him make the decision to go into chemical engineering. He commenced in his studies of the field at the University of Maryland, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1970, and a Master of Science in 1971. Both degrees are in chemical engineering. In addition, he became a registered professional engineer in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Vermont and the District of Columbia. In addition, he is a licensed master plumber and first-grade stationary boiler engineer in Maryland.
Since 1986, Mr. Harclerode has been the president and owner of KBD Engineering. In addition, he has owned and served as the president of Harwel Construction Company, Incorporated. Earlier in his career, he garnered skills and experience at W.R. Grace & Company, the Lever Brothers Company, Allied Chemical Company and Celanese Fibers Co. In 1995, he was recognized with the Order of the Engineer. In addition, he received the NSPE-PEI Merit Award from the National Society of Professional Engineers and was a Congressional Fellow with the society in 1981. In his career, Mr. Harclerode has been involved with the Maryland State Board of Professional Engineers, the American Association of Engineering Societies, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and a variety of other professional affiliations.
