Fred Perilstein, Electrical Engineer and Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in power distributions.
Growing up, Mr. Perilstein passed by the Pennsylvania Rail Road’s 30th Street Station often, and was transfixed by the network of wires overhead. Lead by curiosity, he began to learn more about how the modern world around him was powered. He first earned a Bachelor of Science in economics from the City College of New York in 1968 before attending the Newark College of Engineering. In 1972, he graduated from the institution with a BSEE in engineering and later received an MSEE in power from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1977. Mr. Perilstein became a registered professional engineer in the states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, California and Texas.
Early on in his career, Mr. Perilstein joined the Federal Pacific Electric Corporation based in Newark, New Jersey, working in engineer applications from 1972 to 1978. He spent the next four years of his career espousing his expertise as a consultant before accepting the position of president for Tramlec Corporation. With this responsibility, Mr. Perilstein maintained and grew the company from 1982 to 1997, where he then recommitted himself to working as a consultant for Envar Services Incorporated. In his career, he also provided his skills and expertise as a seminar instructor for Multi-Amp Conference, as a member of the IEEE Construction Network and with the ASME/IEEE joint railroad conference.
Mr. Perilstein considers his greatest accomplishment to have occurred in 1995. During this year, he engineered and patented the first installation of a variable frequency inverter for a Texas oil processing plant. It is the United States patent for Polyphase Variable Frequency Inverter. Throughout his career, he has also maintained affiliation with a variety of organizations, including the IEEE and has been the recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
