Jack Randorff, Physicist, Acoustical Engineer, and Principal-in-Charge at Randorff and Associaties, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of acoustics.
As a student, Dr. Randorff attended Lamar University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1965. He continued his studies at Texas Tech University, earning a Master of Science in 1967 and a PhD in 1970, and started as a senior geophysicist at Texaco Inc. He is a registered professional engineer in the states of Texas and Oklahoma. In 1972, he left Texaco Inc. to work as a senior consultant at Joiner Pelton Rose, and in 1974 he became a supervisor consultant at Bolt Beranek & Newman. After a few years, Dr. Randorff transitioned in 1978 to a new role as project director for Turner Collie & Braden, where he would remain for a decade, until 1988. Upon his departure, he started Randoff and Associates, acting as president until 1996, when he became principal-in-charge, a title he holds to this day.
Dr. Randorff served as the president of the Engineering Council of Houston from 1985 to 1986, and as the president of the National Council of Acoustical Consultants from 1992 to 1994. He is a member of the American Institute of Physics, Acoustical Society American, American Physical Society, and American Association of Physics Teachers, among other organizations. As a physics doctorate, he originally planned to pursue an educational career, but decided to instead enter the private industry. Dr. Randorff is a member of a relatively small cohort of professionals, as there are very few acoustical engineers in the United States and the world. He is most proud of his service to the National Council of Acoustical Consultants, and looks forward to continuing his work in the coming years.
