George Russell Lang, Oil Company Executive, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of structural engineering.

Mr. Lang had a strong interest in mathematics and science in high school, and carried that interest into his higher education. He pursued an education in engineering at the University of Tennessee, and earned both a Bachelor of Science in 1975 and a Master of Science in engineering the following year. He graduated with an MBA from Tulane University in 1989, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in legal studies.

As a registered engineer, Mr. Lang began his career as a civil engineer at Mobil Exploration and Producing Southeast, Inc. from 1977 to 1979. He continued within the company as a stuctural engineer from 1979 to 1981 and a construction manager from 1992 to 2000. Mr. Lang worked as a civil engineering supervisor and a senior marine civil engineering advisor for Mobil Exploration & Producing US, Inc., from 1981 to 1992. Additionally, from 2000 to 2012, he held the positions of an offshore fabrication advisor for ExxonMobil Development Corp., an Orlan platform deputy site manager for Exxon Neftegas Ltd., in Russia, a construction advisor for ExxonMobil Production Company, a construction manager for Mobil Equatorial Guinea, Inc., and a construction manager for Esso Exploration & Production Chad, Inc.

Having become a civil engineering supervisor at the age of 29, Mr. Lang is most proud of being the lead author of Offshore Technology papers, including “Structural Design, Fabrication and Installation of Offshore Conductor Pipe” and “Analysis, Prediction and Repair of Vertical Wave Fatigue Damage of Conductor Guide Bracing.” Outside of his extensive professional achievements, he has been an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Ancestral Societies: Sons of the American Revolution, Phi Kappa Phi, and Chi Epsilon. Looking forward, Mr. Lang hopes to work part time upon the completion of his studies. In recognition of his achievements, he has been featured in the third edition of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America and the 21st edition of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
