Robert James Perkins

Robert James Perkins, Former Engineer and Vice Mayor, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of gas engineering.

A certified gas engineer with more than 40 years of experience, Mr. Perkins worked as a gas leakage engineer at Oklahoma Natural Gas from 1968 to 1994, before retiring in 1995. During this time, Mr. Perkins also excelled as the owner and operator of a janitorial business from 1975 to 1994. Previously, he was a service specialist for Muskogee Public Schools from 1957 to 1968, and he currently devotes his time to directing the Paul Young Football League and serving as chairman of the Muskogee Public Works and Finance Committee. Prior to his professional career, Mr. Perkins pursued an education at Oklahoma State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in education in 1976. He completed additional coursework at Connors State University and subsequently graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in education.

Greatly dedicated to serving the youth in his community, Mr. Perkins is an active member of Optimist International Promise Keepers as well as the Muskogee County Council of Youth Services. In 1989, he was presented with the Community Children Foster Parent Award by the Department of Human Services. Mr. Perkins is most proud of being honored as one of the Five Who Care individuals by Station KOCO TV in 1987. Furthermore, he was recognized as Man of the Year by the Sertoma Club and has been bestowed with a Spirit of Service Award. As a testament to his success, service, experience, and stature, he was featured in the 55th edition of Who’s Who in America.
