Gerrit Jordaan, Professor Extraordinaire, Chief Executive Officer and Owner of Jordaan Professional Services Pty. Ltd., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the fields of road and pavement design, contract management, engineering education and consulting.
As an esteemed professional with more than 40 years of professional experience in engineering, Dr. Jordaan prepared for his career at the University of Pretoria in South Africa, where he graduated with a BSc in civil engineering in 1977. He accepted a position as a research engineer in road pavements for the National Institute for Transport and Road Research as part of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, where he garnered professional experience for more than a decade. During this time, Dr. Jordaan continued his academic pursuits at the University of Pretoria, earning a BEng in civil engineering, with honors, in 1981, a MEng in civil engineering, cum laude, in 1984, and with a PhD in civil engineering in 1988.
Dr. Jordaan leveraged his expertise as the director of Jordaan & Joubert Inc., African Consulting Engineers and Arcus Gibb from 1989 to 2001. He became a founding partner, director and civil engineer of Tshepega Engineering Ltd., where he continues to employ his expertise, and in 2006, he accepted a role as professor extraordinaire at his alma mater, the University of Pretoria. Since 1984, he has served as the presenter of a postgraduate course in road pavement rehabilitation for masters-level engineering students. Dr. Jordaan presently holds both his position at Tshepega Engineering and the University of Pretoria, and in addition, in 2017, he became the owner and chief executive officer of Jordaan Professional Service Pty. Ltd.
Throughout his career, Dr. Jordaan has been involved in myriad road rehabilitation projects throughout Africa, in countries including Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Angola and Botswana, among others. He acted as a technical advisor to lenders on major road toll concession projects, including the N1 Maputo corridor, the N4 Platinum corridor, as well as the Oshouk to Manzini corridor in Swaziland. Dr. Jordaan maintains affiliations with the South African Academy of Engineering, the Society for Asphalt Technology and the Engineering Council of South Africa. He has been recognized for his experience and achievements with myriad awards, including an Excellence Award in 2018, an Award for Technological Excellence in 1988 and a SABITA AWARD for Outstanding Achievement in the Sustainable Use of Bituminous Products, among others.
