Joyce Gaetano, Retired Chemical Engineer and Business Manager, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Gaetano attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she graduated, with honors, with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering in 1978. Additionally, she has completed 25 continuing education credits in the area of leadership, negotiations and business management. In 1976, she began her professional pursuits serving in the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and following her graduation, she accepted a position as an apprentice chemical engineer in the Westinghouse Corporation’s nuclear research and development group. In 1979, Ms. Gaetano started as a technical product representative for the Mobay Corporation, a subsidiary of Bayer AG, where she rose to the rank of a product manager in 1981 and a technical marketing specialist for reaction injection molding in 1983. From 1986 to 1992, she worked for Bayer Material Science as a supervisor of specialty transportation polymers, and from 1993 to 1995, she held the post of the manager of new markets development at the Bayer Corporation.
Ms. Gaetano continued her career at the Bayer Corporation, serving for five years as the marketing manager of elastomer textile backings and acting as the business manager of froth sheet foam from 2000 to 2002. She concluded her professional pursuits as the industry manager for raw materials at Bayer, a position she held from 2002 to 2003. In addition, Ms. Gaetano has found success through her creative works, contributing numerous articles to professional publications and white papers to symposia, consisting of new technology in the fields of polyurethanes, polymers and plastics. Her writings have been published in Modern Plastics, Plastic World, Chemical Week, Elastomer Technology and Chemical Engineering News. As the first female chemical engineer to be hired by the Bayer Corporation, she has been recognized for her expertise with a Marketing Excellence Award, a Bayer Global Recognition, as well as multiple Presidential Achievement Awards within the Bayer Organization for both individual and team achievements. As a further testament to her stature and success, Ms. Gaetano has been featured in the 16th and 17th editions of Who’s Who of American Women and the fourth edition of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America, and the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
