Dan J. Wittliff, Managing Director of Environmental Services at GDS Associates, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership.

Mr. Wittliff’s father was a carpenter. Growing up, Mr. Wittliff would often spend his weekends and holidays working on jobs with him. Though he enjoyed physically building furniture and the like, his father told him he could acquire better work with a college education. With this in mind, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Southern Methodist University in 1972. He followed that up with a master’s of business administration from the University of Oklahoma in 1975. He was inspired to make a difference in the world with his work, which was the driving factor behind many of his career-related decisions.

Prior to his current positions, Mr. Wittliff worked as an engineer for several different companies. From 1981 until 1995, he was with West Texas Utilities. He later worked for the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission, Naismith Engineering Inc., and Hydro Processing LLC. With these companies, Mr. Witliff was able to experience many varying roles, each with differing levels of responsibility and intricacies. He found success everywhere he went, which qualified him to take on higher up positions. He is currently the managing director of environmental services at GDS Associates, Inc. and is additionally working with his private practice, Dan Wittliff Consultant, PLLC. Mr. Wittliff is also an accomplished author with myriad published articles in professional magazines. His work has been generously awarded throughout his career. Some of the notable honors given to him were the title of Distinguished Engineer from the Texas Engineering Foundation in 2001 and, more recently, the President’s Award from the National Society of Professional Engineers in 2018. As a further testament to his success, Mr. Wittliff is featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, as well as the 31st edition of Who’s Who in Finance and Industry and the 26th edition of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
