Roger N. Keeler, PhD, former director of technical marketing at Kaman Diversified Technical Corporation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements and leadership in marketing.
With more than 55 years of professional experience, Dr. Keeler was the director of technical marketing at Kaman Diversified Technical Corporation from 1988 to 2005, having been principal science advisor for the Kaman Aerospace Corporation since 1987. Prior to obtaining these positions, he was a private consultant from 1980 to 1986 and the director of Navy Technology from 1975 to 1978. Dr. Keeler previously held a number of positions with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, including staff director from 1978 to 1980, head and deputy head of the physics department from 1971 to 1975, division leader and deputy division leader from 1968 to 1971, and a staff member from 1963 to 1968.
Dr. Keeler first pursued an education at the William M. Rice Institute for the Advancement of Literature, Science and Art, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1951. He continued his studies at the school, receiving a Bachelor of Science in 1952. He then joined the University of Colorado Boulder, completing a Master of Science in 1958. He subsequently earned a PhD from the University of California Berkeley in 1962. Dr. Keeler is also a military veteran, serving with the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1952 to 1970.
In addition to his primary roles, Dr. Keeler has held a number of academic positions. He has worked with the Applied Physics Laboratory at Johns Hopkins University since 1986, with the Los Alamos National Laboratory since 1984 and as an expert witness since 1970. A former consultant for the Defense Advanced Projects Research Agency, he has worked with the National Strategic Information Center and Energy Conversion Devices. Dr. Keeler has also served as an adjunct professor with the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and a lecturer with the University of California Davis, and worked at the Valeron Corporation and ANSER.
Throughout his career, Dr. Keeler has been recognized for his contributions. The recipient of the Vavilov Gold Medal from the president of the Russian Academy of Science and a Gold Medal for Engineering, he was named Engineer of the Year and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in Engineering at Rice University. He has further been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
