John Milloy, PhD, Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Mechanical Engineering.
With more than 45 years of professional experience, Dr. Milloy had excelled as a distinguished member of the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories from 1989 to 2006. Prior to obtaining this position, he worked as the president of Integrated Security Systems, Inc., from 1985 to 1989. Earlier in his career, he was a member of the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories from 1960 to 1985. Likewise, Dr. Milloy was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Shriners International, the Masonic Lodge and Delta Upsilon.
Dr. Milloy initially pursued an education with the North Dakota State School of Science, where he obtained an Associate of Applied Science in engineering in 1958. He continued his studies with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of North Dakota in 1960. He then graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Master of Science in mechanical engineering in 1962. Dr. Milloy concluded his academic efforts at Northwestern University, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in theoretical and applied mechanics.
Dr. Milloy was inspired to pursue a career in the field by the advances in the space race during his youth. He was particularly inspired by Sputnik, and he was recruited to help push the American cause against the Russians during the Cold War. Dr. Milloy credits much of his success to remaining self-sufficient and his hard work, and he encourages those who would enter the field to do the same.
