Charles Rajakumar, Retired Mechanical Engineer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
Before immigrating to the United States in 1981, Dr. Rajakumar began his higher education at Annamalai University in Tamilnadu, India, where he earned a BEME in 1969. He continued his academic efforts at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India, graduating with a MEME in 1971. In 1974, he attended the Cranfield Institute of Technology in England, where he received a Master of Science in mechanical engineering in 1974. After coming to the United States, Dr. Rajakumar concluded his studies with a PhD in mechanical engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology in 1985.
Dr. Rajakumar began his career in India as an aeronautical engineer with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. from 1971 to 1973, and from 1974 to 1981 he held the position of a deputy design engineer with the company. Following his graduation from the Stevens Institute of Technology, he started as a senior research engineer for ANSYS Inc. in Houston, Pennsylvania, where he remained for 25 years. Dr. Rajakumar became a principal engineer for the Westinghouse Electric Co. in 2010, and in 2016 he accepted a position as a consulting engineer for CAE Engineers LLC. In 2018, he took on the role of senior technical support at Alpha Omega Product Development Systems, where he remained until his retirement. In the future, he aims to do more technical engineering research.
Throughout his career, Dr. Rajakumar has found success as a contributor to professional journals and has conducted research in the areas of computational structural acoustics, fluid mechanics, rotor dynamics and eigenvalue analysis. He has maintained memberships to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Toastmasters International, and the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society. Among his myriad achievements, Dr. Rajakumar most fondly remembers the research he conducted during his tenure with ANSYS Inc., where he helped the company grow and develop. He credits Professor Fernando Sisto as a mentor in his career and would advise the next generation of aspiring professionals in his field to create their own opportunities. As a further testament to his success and stature, Dr. Rajakumar has been selected for inclusion in the second edition of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
