Erica L. DeYoung, Resident Engineer at the Illinois Department of Transportation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements and leadership in field project engineering.
Ms. DeYoung has notably served as the resident engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation since 1991. In the course of fulfilling her responsibilities, she focuses on managing construction projects and ensuring projects are built to their specifications, that materials and quantities are documented properly, and that all staffers are following safety procedures. Whilst working for the department, Ms. DeYoung attained a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Purdue University in 1994.
Ms. DeYoung is ICORS and CMMS certified and was the distinguished recipient of the Contractor of the Year Award in 2018 from the Illinois Department of Transportation. Additionally, she served as an usher at Suncrest Christian Church from 2006 to 2015 and maintained activity as a sponsor for Compassion International in 2013. In 1995, she frequently donated and prepared shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse. In accounting for her success, Ms. DeYoung credits many of her early mentors, particularly her teacher and her family, for encouraging her to strive constantly for every accomplishment along her career path.
Fixated on creating a finished product, Ms. DeYoung became involved in her profession because she wanted to be part of a large project that could help people. Her goal, in particular, has been to look back at a project that is actively assisting in someone’s life and say, “I was part of that” or “I built this.” Looking toward the future, Ms. DeYoung aspires to continue assisting in large infrastructure projects, so as to improve the lives of her fellow citizens.
