Stephen Howard Carr, PhD, Materials Engineer and Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
During his time as an undergraduate at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Carr majored in chemical engineering. In the years after he earned a Bachelor of Science, he proceeded to earn both a master’s and a PhD from Case Western Reserve University. Shortly after he had concluded his academic endeavors, he received an offer to become an assistant professor at Northwestern University. Though he had never considered a career in education, he quickly developed an enthusiasm for enlightening young students on the complicated, yet captivating, practices of science.
Dr. Carr remained at Northwestern University from 1973 until 2016. In those years, he took on many different roles. He excelled as the director of materials research from 1984 to 1990 and, later, as the assistant dean of engineering from 1991 until 1993. Up until 2016, he continued to demonstrate success as the associate dean of engineering. He continues to work as a professor, as his passion for education has only strengthened over the course of his career. In 1993, the University of Cincinnati College of Education rewarded him with the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award in recognition of his myriad achievements.
