Robert F. “Terry” Bergeron Jr., Mathematical Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in technology engineering.
With the guidance of exceptional high school teachers who explored the beauty behind mathematics, the young Dr. Bergeron became certain he wanted to pursue a professional career with mathematics. In 1964, he received a BS from Brown University, summa cum laude, and in 1968, he went on to earn a PhD in mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in which he was present for the creation of the internet and object-oriented programming at the distinguished institution. In his renowned more than 50-year career, Dr. Bergeron has become a patentee in the field and a contributor to various professional journals. Since 2001, he has worked as a consultant in Smithville, New Jersey.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Bergeron was a consultant and senior manager to Cotelligent from 1996 to 2000. He spent nearly 30 years, between 1969 and 1995, working for Bell Laboratories as a technical staff member for four years, supervisor for 12 years, and a technology manager for 11 years. At the prestigious laboratory, Dr. Bergeron was involved in the initial development of geographic data applications that led to Mapquest and Google Maps, and he developed UNIX-based operations support systems. Additionally, his interactive television product utilized early touch-screen technology. In the earlier years of his career, Dr. Bergeron was a research associate at Bolt Beranek & Newman in 1968 and an instructor of mathematics at MIT in 1969. To attest to Dr. Bergeron’s legacy, he can also be found in various editions of Who’s Who In Finance and Business, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the World.
