Skylar DeWeese, Civil and Geotechnical Engineer at Bohanna Huston Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for his dedication, achievements, and leadership in civil engineering.

Growing up, Mr. DeWeese’s parents were civil engineers responsible for working on the Roosevelt Dam in Arizona, inspiring him to go into the same industry. A graduate of the University of New Mexico, Mr. DeWeese graduated with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering in 2008. He later received a certification as a material testing and laboratory technician, which allows him to complete concrete strength testing and hot mix asphalt material testing.

At the start of his career with Bohanna Huston Inc., Mr. DeWeese served as the field and materials testing lab manager. He further progressed to a testing technician before assuming his current position as a civil engineer and a geotechnical engineer. Bohanna Huston Inc. is an engineering firm that has been in business for more than 60 years, with its most recent addition being a materials testing lab. Through the firm, Mr. DeWeese was responsible for ensuring that testing and inspection specification requirements are met on several projects including subdivisions, foundations, utilities, bases, airfields and more. Additionally, he manages daily laboratory operations to maintain national accreditation, which includes upkeep of equipment calibrations and inventory.

Upon his civic duties, Mr. DeWeese donates to the Salvation Army as well as several local charities. To remain aware of changes in the field, he maintains affiliation with the American Concrete Institute and the Asphalt Pavement Association of New Mexico. Outside of work, he is a pianist and enjoys classical music in his spare time. In the coming years, Mr. DeWeese would like the company’s lab to become its own group and he hopes to be promoted and become more involved in overseeing lab function.
