Dale N. Murray, BSEE, MSICS, Retired President and Chief Executive Officer of Defense Systems Engineering, LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in systems and electrical engineering.
Holding an affinity for engineering from a young age, Mr. Murray desired to pursue the field in light of his aptitude in electronics. In his later high school years, he built a stereo hi-phi and an AM and FM receiver from a night kit, along with electric motors using wires and nails. From there, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 1967. Desiring to serve his country, Mr. Murray went on to join the U.S. Army Missile Command in Huntsville, Alabama, where he was an electronic engineer until 1978. Promoted thereafter to a general engineer until 1980, he subsequently served as a senior project officer for the U.S. Army Institute for Research in Management Information and Computer Science for the following four years. During this time, he also received a Master of Science in information and computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1983.
Having accrued 40 years of pristine professional expertise in his industry, Mr. Murray retired in 2014 after excelling as the president and chief executive officer of Defense Systems Engineering for four years. Likewise, between 1984 and 2013, he worked for such large corporations as TRW, Inc., General Research Corp., Raytheon Systems Co., Parker Aerospace Control Systems, Modern Technology Solutions, Booz Allen Hamilton, SAIC and Merging Excellence and Innovation Technologies. Mr. Murray cites God’s strength has helped him emerge from his personal and professional life with success, as well as the influence of his mentor, Brian Desind. He recalls a highlight of his career was his contributions to the United States’ TOC design team, which surpassed the creations of great minds from foreign lands.
Notably, Mr. Murray is a senior life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, as well as a former member of the Association for Computing Machinery, Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association and Soaring Society of America. As a testament to his success, he has received the 2020 Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and was a participant in the People-to-People Delegation to China in Software Engineering in 1983. In his spare time, he enjoys landscaping, worshiping the Lord, creating
projects in his workshop and listening to the blues.
