Olusegun Emmanuel Akinjide, Electrical Engineer at Architect of the Capital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in electrical engineering.
Dr. Akinjide became interested in engineering after witnessing his uncle succeed in the field in his home country of Nigeria. Always motivated to do his best, he came to the United States to pursue a formal education in engineering. Notably, he graduated from Tuskegee University with a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in electrical engineering and went on to earn a Master’s degree in applied computer science from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 2006. Shortly thereafter, he became a LEED AP BD+C, as well as a registered professional engineer in the states of Maryland and Delaware.
Dr. Akinjide commenced his professional career as an electrical engineer for Eaton Corporations. Moving on, he excelled as the electrical engineer and assistant director at the University of Maryland in Eastern Shore, Princess Anne, Maryland for 15 years. For the past 11 years, Dr. Akinjide has demonstrated consistent success as an electrical engineer at Architect of the Capital in Washington, D.C.
Reflecting on his accomplishments, Dr. Akinjide attributes his success to his parents, who did everything in their power to provide him with a good education. They instilled a strong work ethic in him, which has never left. Dr. Akinjide considers every moment of his work life to be among the highlights of his career, as he is consistently able to accomplish challenging tasks. He takes pride in the fact that his products help others live a more comfortable life.
Throughout his career, Dr. Akinjide has shared his expertise through publishing articles to numerous professional journals. Previously, from 2011 until 2017, he enlightened future engineers by mentoring high school students in the Washington, D.C. Public Schools. Looking toward the future, he hopes to continue supporting everyone with whom he works. In his spare time, Mr. Akinjide enjoys spending time with his wife, Grace, and son, Stephen.
