Jay Z. Zhao, technical manager at Joyson Safety Systems, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in advanced automobile restraint systems.

As an expert in automobile safety systems, human modeling and bio-mechanics, Dr. Zhao has dedicated his career to benefiting society by providing protection devises for drivers. He is credited with the creation of a patent that consists of protection devices to mitigate injuries and fatalities. Before immigrating to the United States, he obtained a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science and a PhD from Nanjing University of Science and Technology in 1982, 1984 and 1988 respectively. He later completed the PhD program in mechanical engineering at the City College New York in 1996. Prior to establishing himself with Joyson Safety Systems, he found success as an analysis engineer, research scientist, senior development engineer and CAE team leader and technical manager at Tk Holdings Inc. from 1997 to 2017.

Throughout his career, Dr. Zhao has maintained professional affiliations with the PIPER Consortium Advisory Committee, the Society of Automotive Engineers and the Editorial Board of Journal of Automobiles and Automobile Technologies. Additionally, he has served as the GHBMC FBM subcommittee leaders of the Global Human Body Model Consortium, LLC since 2006. He authored publications such as “A Human Body Model Study on Restraints for Side-Facing Occupants in Frontal Crashes of an Automated Vehicle,” “New Passenger Restraints with Adaptivity to Occupant Size, Seating Positions, and Crash Scenarios Through Paired ARD-HM Study,” and has co-authored nearly 20 more. For his achievements, he is proud to have been presented with the Special Achievement Award from Automotive Systems Laboratory, Inc and the Humboldt Research Fellowship Award from the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation in Germany. Looking toward the future, he aims to continue making strides for Joyson Safety Systems.
