Howard Gilbert Lasser, Chemical Engineer, Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in chemical engineering.
When Dr. Lasser was seven, he would help his mother mix up the chemical solutions in her photography lab. He always wanted to become an engineer for as long as he can remember. He earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Lehigh University in 1950. He then took postgraduate course work at Columbia University in 1951. From there, he received a Doctor of Engineering from the Darmstadt Technical Institute in Germany in 1956. Upon completion of his degrees, he became a registered professional engineer in the states of California, Virginia and Washington D.C.
Dr. Lasser is proud of playing a small part in helping to start the air separation in the industrial gas industry. He is also proud of the laser work he did for retinal bleeding and eyesight restoration. He began his career in 1951 as a chemical engineer at the Belvoir Research Engineering & Development Center, where he remained until 1955. He returned in the same position in 1958 and stayed until 1972. From 1955 to 1956, he was a chemical engineer at the Naval Sea Systems Command. The following year, he became a materials engineer for the General Services Administration. In 1972, he became a chemical engineer with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, where he stayed until in 1982. Since 1982, he has been a chemical engineer and materials research consultant in Alexandria and Fairfax Virginia. As a testament to his success, Dr. Lasser has received myriad accolades including but not limited to a U.S. Presidential Award for volunteer service in 2009, Certificate of Achievement from the U.S. Nay Naval Facilities Engineering Command in 1981, 12 Certificates of Achievement Awards from the U.S. Army ERDL from 1951 to 1972 and the Humphrey Engineering Award in 1958. He is also listed in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and Who’s Who in the World.
