Scott A. Miller, Principal Engineer at Honeywell International, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of chemical engineering.

Mr. Miller’s professional accomplishments are a result of using his talents and expertise for the benefit of his co-workers and the customers they serve in order to help them be successful. After two decades of success in his industry, he joined the staff of UOP, LLC a subsidiary of Honeywell International in 2018 through the acquisition of Ortloff Engineers, Ltd, where he continues to bring his desire to serve, insight, and experience to the table. Mr. Miller believes in leading by example as his mentors taught him and encourages younger professionals to do the same.  In his case, he has always worked harder at being an engaged husband and father than he did in his professional career making time to be home leading and serving his family first.

Mr. Miller earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University in 2001 and chose to enter the oil and gas industry taking a position with BASF Corporation.  During the early stages of his career, he held key engineering and project management roles during construction, startup, and early operation of BASF’s olefins complex in Port Arthur, Texas from 2001 through 2007. At the time of construction, the olefins complex was the largest single-train naphtha cracker in the world.

In 2008, Mr. Miller joined Ortloff Engineers, Ltd., a privately-owned developer and licensor of specialized gas processing technology, as a senior process engineer and was elected partner with the firm in 2009. Mr. Miller’s primary responsibilities focused on the licensing, sales and business development support, process technology development, and process design of cryogenic gas processing facilities for gas liquids recovery from natural gas and refinery gas streams.  He held key roles in the development and launch of Ortloff’s Gas Plant in a Bottle™ technology portfolio, Ortloff’s 5th generation retrofit technologies, and Ortloff’s flexible gas liquids recovery technologies.  In 2018, Ortloff was acquired by UOP, LLC, a subsidiary of Honeywell International.  At the time of sale, Ortloff had licensed technology in over 30 countries and was recognized worldwide as the industry leader in natural gas liquids recovery technology.

As a result of the sale of Ortloff Engineers, Ltd., Mr. Miller is currently a principal engineer for Honeywell International with a focus on technology development, training, process design and technical sales support for natural gas liquids recovery, LNG production, and CO2 capture and sequestration.  He is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas.  Mr. Miller has co-authored a number of technical publications and regularly speaks at industry conferences around the world on topics related to his area of expertise within the industry.  He currently holds 10 U.S. patents, over 30 international patents, and has several U.S. patents pending for gas liquids recovery using cryogenic techniques.

Mr. Miller cares deeply about issues around marriage, fatherhood, and education.  He has always been active in his community, church, and children’s school having served on numerous boards and in various leadership roles over the years.  He has served as an area director with Young Life, has held several leadership roles in their faith community, served as a board member and swim meet director with The City of Midland Aquatics Center, and has coached both girls’ basketball and soccer. He currently serves as a mentor and coach with OneThree12 Ministries, a faith-based organization dedicated to helping young men and women live on purpose and prioritize what’s important in all areas of their life. At his children’s school, Mr. Miller leads small events dedicated to serving and equipping dads, and he and his wife also serve as family mentors dedicated to helping parents take ownership as the primary educator of their children. Within the field of engineering, he currently serves as an advisory board member to the University of Texas of the Permian Basin Engineering Department.

Mr. Miller and his wife have been married for over 18 years and they have two daughters. When away from his professional work at Honeywell and his personal work being involved in his community and children’s school, you can find him with his wife and daughters supporting them in their endeavors, traveling as a family on their next adventure, or backpacking and fly-fishing with a few close friends in northern New Mexico or Colorado.
