Regis L. Etzel, PE, President at Etzel Engineer and Build, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in construction contracting.

In 2007, Mr. Etzel founded Etzel Engineer and Build, Inc., a design and construction company in Saxonburg where he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company, including business development, estimating, project management, project engineering and field operations. Mr. Etzel has the primary responsibility for project direction, cost, and schedule control and defines the administrative direction and strategies of the company.

Mr. Etzel initiated his career in contracting in 1988 by working construction at Burt Hill, a Pittsburgh-based architectural and engineering firm, where he quickly excelled as an electrical designer. After obtaining his Pennsylvania Professional Engineers license in 1996, he became an electrical engineer, leading electrical design efforts on various commercial, healthcare, and high-tech projects.

In 1997, Mr. Etzel joined LLI Contracting, a full-service design/build firm serving the Pittsburgh area that provides new construction and renovation/remodeling services for commercial, industrial, educational, government, and health care clients. He and fellow colleagues jointly created an LLI Design Building Division which quickly became recognized as an industry leader in technology-based construction. During his tenure at LLI, Mr. Etzel became a principal of the construction division and rose to the position of President of LLI/CMI Construction, Inc.

Mr. Etzel’s professional memberships include the Design-Build Management Group, the Construction Management Group, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania. He attributes his success to his work ethic, as his father was a mason contractor and he grew up with a family of hard workers that inspired him through his career. Mr. Etzel considers his career highlight passing the special engineering test without an engineering degree. As he nears retirement, he hopes to do some volunteering work while continuing to grow the company in the short term.
