Walter L. Williams, Quality Control Engineer at Bechtel Corporation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in electrical and nuclear plant safety.
While obtaining a Bachelor of Science in electronic technology from Norfolk State University in Virginia, his adviser told him about a position for co-op students in New York at General Electric. He provided superior service from 1979 to 1985 as a quality control engineer for General Electric at various nuclear stations and as an electrical engineer from 1986 to 1988 with Gilbert Commonwealth in Knoxville, Tennessee. He then prospered as a quality control electrical and instrumentation and control Level II inspector from 1988 to 2003 with Pilgrim Nuclear Power Generation Station, Entergy Corporation in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Mr. Williams subsequently flourished as an outside plant technician and lineman for fiber optic construction for Verizon in Fredericksburg, Virginia from 2005 to 2010, a quality control electrical and instrumentation and control Level II inspector from 2011 to 2015 with the Watts Bar Nuclear Station, Bechtel Corporation and Sun Technical Services Inc., and since 2020 as a quality control electrical Level II inspector and engineer with Vogtle Nuclear Power Station, Bechtel Corporation.
Keenly interested in the benefit of his community, Mr. Williams supports the Salvation Army and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. He attributes his success to the people surrounding him, especially his parents. His goal in the coming years is to help to build the first nuclear power plant in the United States in the 21st century from the ground up. Mr. Williams would also like to be a contributor to developing other people’s skills in the field.
