Jeffery Sain, Associate Director of Engineering at Merck, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in production management.

Mr. Sain obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science in professional aeronautics and subsequently a master’s degree in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1987 to 2000 and United States Navy from 2000 to 2013, attaining the rank of lieutenant commander. From 2006 to 2010, he excelled as an assistant maintenance officer and maintenance material control officer with U.S. Navy Fleet Logistics Support Squadron VR-64 Condors, yielding a dramatic increase in the number of mission capable aircraft, and positioning VR-64 as the top C-130 squadron in the Navy. From 2010 to 2013, Mr. Sain provided maintenance services for Navy Reserve fighter squadron, where his management led to the squadron being recognized as the premier Navy reserve squadron for 2012. During his time in the military, he has been presented with numerous honors that include Golden Wrench for the Tactical Support Wing; Golden Wrench for the Fleet Logistics Wing; and Maintenance Officer of the Year in the Fleet Logistics Wing.

In the private sector, Mr. Sain prospered from 2013 to 2014 as field service project manager for engineering and manufacturing company Dresser-Rand, where he supervised field and service center repairs, installation, commissioning and engineered solutions for upgrades and performance revamps. With HPI, LLC from 2014 to 2016 as project manager of business development Mr. Sain oversaw repairs and cost administration to ensure compliance with schedule, cost and quality standards. He then served as a freelance turbine outage consultant before returning to Dresser-Rand as a project manager from 2017 to 2018. 

Since 2018 with Merck, the leading pharmaceuticals firm, Mr. Sain has made an impact as operations manager, manager of engineering and associate director of engineering, where he has been responsible for all aspects of production management, including resource planning and scheduling, department budgeting, cross-functional training, performance reviews, safety compliance, production and goal settings, as well as ensuring departmental compliance with all FDA, safety, health and environmental policies and regulations.

Mr. Sain mentions proudly that when he entered the Navy, he went to the worst performing squadron at the time and within two years he turned them around and the unit became the top performing squadron.  In 2010, they were nominated for the “Most Outstanding Military Unit.” He is hoping in the coming years for continued success on the engineering side with Merck.
