Dr. Khandker is the director of design and engineering for Lakeshore Global Corporation in Detroit, Michigan, serving in this capacity since 2020. He is also the vice president of Haengel & Associates Engineering, Inc. in Canton, Michigan, a position he has held since 2012. Since 2017, he has been a president and professional engineer expert for A M K Solutions LLC in Canton. He was a technical advisor for NexelT Inc. from 2018 and 2020 and from 2012 to 2020, he taught students as an adjunct professor at Wayne State University in Detroit. His career began in 1976 when he became director of the geotechnical and materials division of Al-Muhandis Nizar Al-Kurdi Al-Milli Engineering Consultants in Saudi Arabia, working here until 1981.
After graduating from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Dr. Khandker attended the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada to earn his doctorate in civil engineering in 1975. He studied at the Norman Y. Mineta Leadership Institute in 2008 to secure a leadership certificate. He is a licensed professional engineer in the states Michigan and West Virginia.
Dr. Khandker remains active in the Bangladeshi community by serving as the treasurer for the Bangladeshi American Public Affairs Committee in Hamtramck, Michigan. He is the founder and a past president of the Bangladeshi American Public Affairs Committee. He is a former president of the Detroit Metro Chapter of the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers and a past director of the Council of Asian Pacific Americans.
Love for the work is the secret behind Dr. Khandker’s success. He is a goal-oriented worker. He has spent more than 30 years creating designs and helping to build the world and in the new few years, he plans to do more of the same while focusing on maintaining his personal health and happiness.
