Nazar Salih, MSCE, PE, Senior Project Manager at Alfred Benesch & Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in civil engineering.

Since 2021, Mr. Salih has found success as a senior project manager with Alfred Benesch & Company, before which he shared his talents as a quality assurance manager with Bridging North America in 2020. From 1993 to 2019, he served as an assistant division design engineer with Wayne County in Michigan, and from 1989 to 1992, he was a teaching assistant with the Wayne State University Department of Civil Engineering. Mr. Salih garnered additional experience as a teacher at the University of Alabama for two years and as a site engineer with BEI Associates in 1990. To keep abreast of developments in his field, he has maintained membership in the American Public Works Association and the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials. Mr. Salih additionally served as the vice president of the Kurdish National Congress and the Omar Center.

In preparation for his career pursuits, Mr. Salih attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and structure. He continued his higher education at the same institution and earned a Master of Science in civil engineering and structure in 1989. For his accomplishments throughout his career, Mr. Salih has been recognized with Best Teacher awards from the Wayne State University Department of Civil Engineering in 1987 and 1988 and a Best Project Management and Design award from Wayne County in Michigan. The project’s budget was less than $5 million for the latter award, and the American Public Works Association also recognized his accomplishments.

Mr. Salih attributes his success to his hard work, dedication, and persistence. He also credits his late mother, who told him to do the best he could and pursue a bright future, words that have driven him in his career. He considers mentoring many engineers his most notable career achievement, and in the coming years, he hopes to transition back into education after fulfilling his current mission with Alfred Benesch & Company. Mr. Salih hopes to share his knowledge with others and encourage the next generation of civil engineers. In his spare time, he enjoys biking with his children.
