Frederick C. Weist, MS, Principal / Owner at FCW Sciences, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements and leadership in electronics engineering. His engineering career so far spans approximately 40 years working primarily in analog / RF / microwave / millimeter-wave research and development, as well as technical management, for the defense, space and commercial markets. He also has done some secondary work in photonics, magnetics, superconductivity, sensor signal processing and servo systems. Additionally, he has several publications on various topics in these areas. His present interests include the same as well as integrated microwave/photonic (IMWP), quantum, and biophysics systems.

Upon earning a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Drexel University in 1983, Mr. Weist commenced his engineering / applied physics career as an electronics engineer with the U.S. Naval Air Warfare Center – Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), where he remained for approximately eight years. During this time, he notably received a Letter of Commendation in 1983 and a Sustained Superior Performance Award in 1986 from NAWCAD, as well as a Letter of Commendation in 1991 from the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command who sponsored him at NAWCAD. In the early 1990s, Mr. Weist returned to his alma mater and obtained a Master of Science in Physics in 1992, further serving as a research assistant at the university, until joining Aydin Corp. in 1995 as a senior engineer in the Telemetry Division. Excelling in this post, he was the recipient of two Performance Awards in 1996 and 1997.

Near the turn of the millennium, Mr. Weist served in various electronics engineering capacities and in 2005 went on to serve as a Principal Engineer in the Signal Solutions Division of DRS Technologies for approximately six years where he was awarded two Performance Awards in 2005 and 2009. He then served with the Herley-CTI Division of Kratos Defense and Security Solutions as a Senior Design Engineer, where he received a Letter of Commendation in 2012. After this, he briefly served as a consulting engineer with Planar Monolithics Industries before joining the Digital Receiver Technology Subsidiary of the Boeing Company in 2014 as a Level 5 (Principal) Engineer / SME. He served in this position for approximately six years until his retirement in 2020, taking with him two Pride-@-Boeing Awards in 2016 and 2017. To remain engaged in his industry as well as pursue his interests in other technical fields, he now continues his work in research and development along with writing and publishing as Principal / Owner at FCW Sciences, and maintains membership with the American Physical Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
