L. David Suits, independent consultant at LDS Geosynthetic Consultant Services, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in geotechnical engineering.
Mr. Suits draws on 55 years of experience as a proven leader in the engineering industry. Specializing in geotechnical engineering and geosynthetic projects, he has operated as an independent consultant for LDS Geosynthetic Consultant Services since 2016. Prior to his current role, he was the executive director of IGS North America, the North American chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society, from 2005 to 2016. Mr. Suits originally began his career in 1968, working as a supervisor for the soils engineering laboratory of the Geotechnical Engineering Bureau, as part of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), until 2005.
Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Mr. Suits pursued a formal education at Clarkson University, earning a bachelor’s degree in 1967 and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 1969. As part of his commitment to his profession, he remains affiliated with several pertinent organizations, including the Transportation Research Record, for which he is an associate editor. Furthermore, he is a founding member of Committee D35 on Geosynthetics, as part of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) International. To commemorate his accomplishments, Mr. Suits was previously named Engineer of the Year by the NYSDOT.
