Title: Product Engineer
Company: Thermacut Inc.
Location: White River Junction, Vermont, United States

David Leo Bouthillier, a product engineer at Thermacut Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of product engineering.

Hailing from more than 25 years of experience in his chosen field, Mr. Bouthillier has earned distinction through his current role at Thermacut Inc., an international designer and manufacturer of torches, guns, consumables and accessories marketed toward the metal cutting and welding industries. In this capacity, he is responsible for product engineering and design, as well as overseeing general quality. Prior to his work at Thermacut, Mr. Bouthillier distinguished himself as a design engineer at what is now Hypertherm Associates, during which time he was awarded his first plasma arc torch innovation patent – since then, he has been the co-inventor of more than 10 plasma arc patents, eight of which remain active.

Mr. Bouthillier graduated, with honors, from Hartford High School, in 1987. During this time, he also earned induction into the National Honor Society. Following this period, he went on to work as a press operator for the Valley News, a local newspaper in Vermont, after which he entered the engineering field. Years later, he studied mathematics at Saint Michael’s College, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in 2015. Mr. Bouthillier went on to attend the Worcester Polytechnic Institute at the Southern New Hampshire University, where he attained a Master of Business Administration, with a concentration in engineering management, in 2021.

In accounting for his success in the industry, Mr. Bouthillier largely credits his intrinsic sense of persistence, as well as his ability to take initiative. Throughout the course of his career, he is most proud to have received hands-on learning regarding many vital aspects of the field, and to have learned the value of working with a strong and supportive team. Likewise, he is gratified to have realized that it is never too late to accomplish one’s goals, or to reach the next stage of their professional journey. Looking toward the future, Mr. Bouthillier hopes to transition to a leadership role in his field, and to retire after another decade of exemplary work.
